  • Image Comic book review: Death's Kiss

2026-05-18 She touches him, and he collapses in a heart attack.

  • Image Comic book review: Immortal Coil 1 and 2

2026-05-11 Odin is in his modern day library. Loki confronts him, wanting to destroy all the other gods and take over Earth --to destroy all the people on it.

  • Image Comic book review: Sîan, Thief of Khor-Shavarah

2026-04-06 We have a muscular guy walking into a tavern and raising a little hell, acting kinda like a braggart.

  • Image Comic Book Review: Sink, Just Desserts

2026-03-30 John Lees certainly has built a sad world. It's populated mostly by spooks and homicidal freaks: mad clown gangs, a serial killer bus driver, a vampire.

  • Image Comic book review: Her Hardboiled Heart parts 1 - 2

2026-03-23 The man (named Paul) goes about his boring task watching her for his boss (named Willem) as he ruminates about his past, and past transgressions.

  • Image Graphic Novel review: No Future

2026-02-16 We meet Valen Brennan, a gun-for-hire who gets a job with Rachead Kammer, a rich corporate woman who has had way too much plastic surgery on her face.

  • Image Comic book review: Quest 2

2026-01-26 The warrior/woman on the cover, a 'Paladin' named Vhess is chased by a weird six legged dog monster as she's closing in on the nearby castle.

  • Image Graphic Novel Review: A Night Ride to the Day

2026-01-19 This is more of a series of colorfully masterfully rendered images that play with text and composition than a traditional comic book sequential story.

  • Image Comic book(s) review: The Unthinkables 1-3

2026-01-12 The whole planet's pool of 'heroic' Super Heroes have been annihilated by this huge powerful entity. The world has to resort to recruiting all the Super Villains to do the job, mostly against their will.

  • Image Comic Book Review: Crossover Division 5

2025-11-10 Crossover Division is about literary characters coming to life in the real world: Martian invaders (War of the Worlds), Wicked Witches (The Wizard of Oz), Dracula, and the like.

  • Image Comic Book Review: No Romance in Hell/Demons to Earth and Back

2025-11-03 A lower echelon Demon named Bug is a barely covered voluptuous yet monstrous female with fangs, a huge boil on her head and furry forelegs.

  • Image Graphic novel review: ARKS

2025-10-27 There comes a time when you can explain things way, way too far. ARKS is basically a science treatise turned into a comic book, but only in format. Here, we have the reconstructed a whole world of living things, and an atmosphere on a planet far, far away from Earth...

  • Image Graphic Novel Review: Plastic

2025-10-20 This is far and above an astounding work of perfection. As a comic book artist who tries and sometimes occasionally makes something worth looking at Plastic is nothing short of an education for me.

  • Image Graphic Novel review: Narco

2025-09-15 Narco is a clean, concise elegantly rendered story that is in the end somewhat 'empty calories.' It starts with an interesting idea, the main character, an internet hacker named Marcus who falls asleep, blacks out whenever he undergoes a stressful situation.

  • Image Comic book review: VXD

2025-09-01 James Johnson has a special skill. He can break into super-secret places using his technological skills while slipping in as an unassuming janitor. Nobody thinks twice about him as he nonchalantly wheels his cleaning supply cart to and from each job he gets sent to.

  • Image Comic book review: Bloodsmith 1 and 2

2025-08-25 Down in the dark and murky night world of old London, there are these weird snaky things that come from another dimension. They inhabit this dark, and satanic cult-like place(they call it 'the abyss') and they want to take over our realm.

  • Image Comic book review: Night Wolf 8

2025-08-04 I'm now fairly well versed in Rob's story line, so there's less of a confusion here, even though I'm stepping into his series maybe an issue or two out of place.

  • Image Comic book review: Black Ball 4

2025-07-21 I'm always rooting for Melissa and her works because she is constantly getting better with her artwork. This book, a kind of mini comic tells an ongoing story set in an alternative 1930s New York City where both spells and alcohol are prohibited.

  • Image Graphic Novel Review: Where the Body Was

2025-07-07 There's a kind of 'openness' in top tier comic book pros with their story telling, both in art and writing, that is noticeable compared to the indies. The independent creator wants to cram as much information, or wants to make his or her quirks and individual tastes run the show.

  • Image Comic book review: Ghost Band

2025-06-30 This is the second time I've reviewed his comics, the first time was with a vampire story called Sucker. It was a long time in getting Ghost Band completed, and I was very pleased to see it finally arrive in my mailbox.

  • Image Comic books review: Espresso Detective parts 1-4

2025-06-23 What I experienced while reading these books was a real strange experience. I was teased into the assumption that there would be a noir-is L.A. style detective drama stemming from the title itself.

  • Image Comic Book Review of 'The Brothers James' 1 - 5

2025-06-09 There's a lot to unpack. Twin brothers, Jack and John James witness their parent's murder. They grow up with revenge on their mind. Apparently it was caused by a biker gang known as 'The Lucky Devils.'

  • Image Comic book review: No Spell Lasts Forever part 3

2025-06-02 It's difficult to criticize this comic for the sole reason that Sarah Cooke has been so great at promoting her comic on Kickstarter and her newsletter that she's been reaping in great success on getting the word out.

  • Image Comic book review: By the Time I Get to Dallas part 4

2025-05-26 At first, when I read part 1 I thought we would get into a sort of large mob scene of the central subject of the story. For those who are unfamiliar with Colin's concept, about 80% of the world's population suddenly drops everything they're doing in order to get to a point exactly "33 degrees, 3 minutes, 5.8 seconds North by 96 degrees, 40 minutes 8.8 seconds West" which is ground zero, fairly close to Dallas, Texas.

  • Image Comic book compilation review: Sink Monsters

2025-05-12 You cannot read a Lees/Cormac story without it leaving a mark on you. In this case, they've tried a different tack, and put together two stories that existed outside in their previously published issues 12 and 13 of the Sink series. A curious decision for sure, but here it works.

  • Image Comic Book Review: The Polar Paradox Equator's End part Two

2025-05-05 I re-read Frank Martin's series today. The summary of this story is split into two halves...

  • Image Graphic Novel Review: Mezkal

2025-04-28 The story begins with a young man in Chicago whose father runs away. Later on his mother passes away. The young man, Vananka, decides to just wander off, and so he finds his way in the American Southwest, stumbling onto an old desert farm house with a blind Indian boy, the wise old Indian sage, and a beautiful woman named Leila.

  • Image Graphic Novel Review: False Guard

2025-04-21 A small-town nobody named Mané travels to the big city to enroll in a martial arts school to compete in a boxing type of sport known as 'Pankat' which by the way was the original title of this book.

  • Image Graphic Novel Review: Streamliner 1 - 2

2025-04-07 I had high expectations opening these up. There was very elegant and well-crafted binding, the presentation with the hard covers and rounded edges really showed the writer/artist 'Fane and the colorist Isabelle Rabarot put out their very best attempt at a classic.

  • Image Manga Book Review: Death Note vol. I

2025-03-31 One’s life end is determined by a huge ledger, upon pages written in it by demons called Shinigami. Such a book drops from the afterlife to earth and is claimed by a young student named Light Yagami.

  • Image Graphic Novel review: Claptrap

2024-12-09 Claptrap is an amalgam of satirical riffs on popular culture. For those who remember old Mad magazine from a ways back... the days of funny whacked-out viewpoints mimicking high art or popular TV shows and movies this is a re-rendition of that craft.
