Sons of Anarchy.

by Kurt Sutter
Every Monday on my Mayfield Eight Facebook page HERE, and on the official Facebook page for Fans of Sons of Anarchy HERE I'll be putting up a new sketch based on the FX TV series from 2008-14. Both as a way to show my appreciation for fans of the show and to keep getting better at rendering faces and emotions I've been working at this.

Sons of Anarchy gets its name from an old Viet-Nam US Battalion where Jax Teller's father relates a book of poems and thoughts; that Anarchy is the only true form of freedom. The story relates Jax Teller's life as he deals with his mom and step-dad, the leader of SOA. It's set in the fictitious city of Charming, California --which for a while I thought stood for Stockton but was mistaken. A lot of the inspiration Kurt Sutter has gathered from the TV show comes from the Hell's Angels Oakland chapter.

The show itself is still available for streaming. You can get it on Hulu (Google it).

Dustbowl

by Luke Merrifield and Russel Petch (see above)

These are preliminary sketches, painting, and finished pages for a steampunk western set in turn-of-the-century America. The main character, Hamilton Vurse, gets by with killing for hire. Here's a panorama painting of his home town, first round character sketches of him, as well as other characters and objects. There is also a teaser for upcoming chapters of the story.

These are some extra pages to have been included with future installments of the Dustbowl story. Hamilton alone in the desert, walking with the 'head', or proof of his hit-job, and a two page bar room brawl scene.
